Declassification of Military Assistance Data to Ukraine

According to Главком: Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has ordered the declassification of records concerning military aid to Ukraine covering the period from 2022 to 2026. This decision followed consultations with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Poland’s Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) will investigate potential leaks of classified state information.

The process of transferring military equipment to Ukraine began under the previous government led by Mariusz Błaszczak. According to available information, each equipment transfer was reported to the President of Poland. Currently, this role is held by Karol Nawrocki, while previously the president was Andrzej Duda.

Krzysztof Bosak, co-chair of the Confederation party, reported that in March the Polish government secretly transferred Patriot air defense interceptor missiles to Ukraine. At the same time, Poland declined to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine due to a breakdown in agreements regarding military technology exchanges. The deal to supply Polish aircraft in exchange for Ukrainian drone technology never took effect.

Awards and Security Controversy

On June 19, Polish President Karol Nawrocki decided to strip Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle. The move stems from scandals involving the naming of a Ukrainian unit after heroes of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Several Ukrainian officials announced they would return Polish awards, while Zelenskyy stated he had sent the order back to Poland by mail.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz: 'We are operating under wartime conditions near our borders, and any actions against Poland’s state interest endanger the safety of Polish citizens-Mr. Błaszczak, you have done this once before. We will hold everyone accountable, regardless of immunity. In all my actions, I am always guided by the security interests of Polish citizens.'

The declassification of military aid data to Ukraine may signal a push for greater transparency and accountability within the Polish government regarding national security and international cooperation. These actions could also affect relations between Poland and Ukraine, especially in the context of military support critical to the ongoing regional conflict. The events surrounding the provision of military equipment and diplomatic awards highlight the complexity of interactions between the two neighboring countries, which could have further implications for their future relationship.

The recent decision by Polish authorities to declassify military aid records has raised eyebrows, especially in light of the ongoing controversy surrounding President Zelenskyy's awards. This development highlights the complex relationship between Poland and Ukraine, particularly regarding military cooperation and historical sensitivities that continue to affect diplomatic ties.
