Poland urges Ukraine to improve drone strike accuracy amid rising Baltic airspace incidents
Call for caution
According to Главком: Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, has called on Ukraine to exercise greater precision when launching drone strikes on Russian territory and to prevent drones from drifting into European airspace. Speaking at a press conference in Estonia, he stressed the inviolability of NATO borders. His remarks come in response to an unprecedented surge in aerial incidents across the Baltic region over the past three weeks.
“Ukraine must be highly precise when using drones to avoid Russia interfering with their flight paths. Ukraine, of course, needs to be more cautious here so as not to give grounds for Russian provocations.”

Kosiniak-Kamysz also emphasized that 'the territories of the Baltic countries must not be violated, they must not be exposed to any threat.'
Response to drone incidents
Against this backdrop, Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires and issued a formal protest after drones entered Latvian airspace from Russia and crashed in the municipalities of Rēzekne, Balvi, and Ludza. Lithuania’s Defence Minister also urged European nations to adapt to the growing frequency of drone incidents, noting that Russia is deliberately redirecting Ukrainian drones into Baltic airspace.
Furthermore, the Kremlin is waging an active disinformation campaign against Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže dismissed as an outright lie a claim by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service that Ukraine is preparing strikes from Latvian territory. These developments highlight the escalating tensions in the region and the need for Ukraine to exercise caution in its drone operations.
The Polish minister’s statements reflect European concerns over regional security, particularly amid the surge in drone attacks. Meanwhile, Latvia’s response to the drone incidents underscores the seriousness of the situation and the potential diplomatic repercussions for Russia. Tensions in the Baltic region continue to mount, which could influence the security strategies of both Ukraine and NATO member states. In this context, it is crucial for Ukraine to weigh the risks associated with drone use to avoid escalating the conflict with Russia and to avoid endangering its allies.
These developments come amid increasing tensions, with Russia accusing the Baltic states of facilitating Ukrainian drone operations. This claim has been firmly rejected by both Kyiv and the European Union, highlighting the complexities of the regional security situation.
