Scaling Ukraine’s Defense Industry Is Europe’s Best Bet, Says Polish Analyst

Polish analyst suggests a way to save Europe
Польський аналітик стверджує, що посилення оборонної промисловості України є ключем до безпеки Європи.

Europe’s Security Vulnerabilities Under the Spotlight

According to ХВИЛЯ: Polish analyst Piotr Kulpa has raised alarms about Europe’s lack of preparedness for a large-scale armed conflict. He attributes this to decades of reliance on U.S. security guarantees and the absence of a robust European military infrastructure. According to Kulpa, this weakness stems from Washington’s policies, which have deliberately limited the military capabilities of its European allies.

To counter emerging threats, Kulpa argues that Europe must build new security belts grounded in real economic and military resources. He stresses the need for closer coordination among Scandinavia, the Baltic states, Poland, and Romania, with support from Turkey. Kulpa also notes the formation of new alliances, such as the global Transmare project, which stretches from Canada through Greenland, Denmark, Britain, and Scandinavia with Norway.

Ukraine’s Defense Sector as a Game Changer

Kulpa emphasized that 'from the perspective of large-scale security challenges, there is no more effective way to boost Europe’s defense than to fully tap into the existing potential of Ukraine’s defense industry.'

He points out that Ukrainian companies are capable of producing far more weapons, but they are critically short of the necessary funding. The analyst also suggested that, up until a direct missile strike occurs, 'this fear objectively works in Europe’s favor.' If Europe can endure this fear, society will be better prepared for a potential conflict.

Kulpa expressed doubt about Europe’s ability to mount an organized resistance, comparing it unfavorably to Ukraine in 2022: 'I sincerely do not believe that a complacent Europe can behave as courageously and cohesively as Ukraine did.' He also noted that 'all U.S. doctrines of presence as the primary security guarantor in Europe were based on the premise that allies inherently lack serious resources to launch an independent counterstrike.'

In short, Piotr Kulpa underscores the urgent need for measures to strengthen Europe’s defense capabilities and highlights the critical role of expanding Ukraine’s arms production.

With global threats escalating and international instability on the rise, Kulpa’s observations point to a significant military vulnerability among European nations. As the situation in Ukraine remains tense, the question of Europe’s defense autonomy and readiness becomes increasingly pressing. According to the analyst, developing Ukraine’s military-industrial complex could become a key pillar in ensuring stability and security across the continent.

As Europe grapples with its defense challenges, the insights from a Polish analyst's warning on the collapse of security guarantees underscore the urgency for a strategic overhaul. The interconnectedness of these issues highlights the necessity for a cohesive European military response, particularly in light of the evolving threats and the critical role that Ukraine's defense industry could play in bolstering regional security.
