Ukrainian Director Bata Nedic Passes Away

According to Главком: Bata Nedic (Svetislav Bogoslavovich), a Ukrainian director, producer, and screenwriter of Serbian descent, has died at age 64. His death occurred on June 25 following an extended battle with a serious disease. The announcement came from his family and the Odesa Film Studio, where he had been working. The historical TV series Film for the NEPman, which Nedic was involved in, will be completed without him.

Bata Nedic's Life Journey

Born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1962, Nedic completed his military service before traveling to the USSR for his education. After the Soviet Union dissolved, he chose to remain in Ukraine, where he built his career. He began directing at the Dovzhenko Film Studio, releasing his first film in 1989. From 1993, he lived in Kyiv, then relocated to Odesa in 2017. He also worked as a producer for the Inter TV channel and directed numerous television projects, including:

  • Healing with Love
  • Jacob's Century
  • Ivanova, 45
  • A Village for a Million
  • The Mistress

At the Odesa Film Studio, Nedic's credits include the series Doctor Filatov and Ivanova, 45, the documentary Military Couturier, the film Two Truths, and the TV series Film for the NEPman. He also appeared in minor roles, such as in the 2004 miniseries Stolen Happiness. In 2025, he began work on producing the series Film for the NEPman.

Nedic's relatives also shared their grief:

"It is with a broken heart that I must report that yesterday, June 25, 2026, Svetislav Bogoslavovich went to the Creator. We fought the illness for a long time, but we lost this war. Thank you to everyone who supported us during this difficult period."
