Safe Return of Ukrainians from Occupied Areas

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Fifteen Ukrainian citizens have been successfully brought back to government-controlled territory from regions under temporary occupation. Among those returning was a 96-year-old woman from Zaliznyi Port in the Kherson region, accompanied by her daughter and son-in-law, the latter requiring an Ilizarov orthopedic apparatus for mobility. The ages of those repatriated range from 49 to 96 years old. Dmitry Lubinets, Ukraine's Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, confirmed these developments and highlighted the significant role played by the international agricultural company MHP and its founder and CEO, Yuriy Kosiuk, in facilitating these returns.

Challenges Faced During Repatriation

Included among the returnees was a 74-year-old man from Kakhovka, whose son had been held captive in Russian detention. The man originally planned to leave after his son's release in 2025, but worsening health conditions prompted an earlier departure. Many returnees encounter substantial obstacles upon their arrival, particularly because they often arrive without valid documents-either lost during occupation or expired.

Dmitry Lubinets: "Even a Ukrainian passport, which should simply serve as an identification document, can become a source of additional complications under occupation."
