According to Главком: A deadly fire in a private home in the village of Litky, Brovary district, claimed the life of the 43-year-old homeowner. The State Emergency Service received the alert at 9:22 PM on March 1. While extinguishing the blaze, rescuers discovered the body of the man, born in 1982, with no signs of life. Preliminary findings indicate the fire originated from faulty stove equipment. Such incidents are a stark reminder of the heightened fire risks during Ukraine's heating season.

Fire Statistics in Ukraine

Investigators from the Brovary Police Department have launched a pre-trial investigation into violations of fire and industrial safety regulations that led to the fatality. This case highlights alarming national fire statistics recorded since the start of the heating season. During this period, fires have resulted in 848 deaths, with a total of 10,578 fires in residential buildings and structures.

Furthermore, 783 people have been injured, including 93 children. A significant portion of these fires-over 3,500 cases-were caused by violations of fire safety rules during the installation and operation of electrical systems. More than 3,000 fires started due to improper stove operation, and over 2,500 were caused by careless handling of open flames. These figures underscore a critical need for greater public awareness regarding the safe use of heating and electrical equipment.

The tragedy in Litky serves as another grim reminder of the dangers associated with using stove and electrical equipment, particularly during cold weather.

It is vital for citizens to adhere to safety rules and regularly inspect their equipment to prevent similar incidents in the future.
