Border guards release footage of a village just 13 kilometers from the front line, now in ruins.
What’s happening in Kharkiv region
According to Главком: Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service has published video from the settlement of Bilyi Kolodiaz in Kharkiv region, located only 13 kilometers from the line of contact. The footage shows damaged and destroyed homes, structures blackened by repeated attacks, shattered windows, and mangled rooftops. The proximity to combat is evident in every detail-the silence of empty yards, the scars of destruction, and the ever-present danger. Still, life has not completely stopped here: according to border guard officials, some residents remain, holding on under extraordinarily difficult conditions.
Evacuations from Donetsk region
Evacuations from Donetsk region are ongoing, but residents of Kramatorsk are reluctant to leave, even though the city lies just 15 kilometers from the front and comes under enemy fire almost daily. Yevhen Tkachov, head of the evacuation direction for Donetsk region with the humanitarian mission Proliska, points out that evacuation routes can be targeted by Russian drones, which are increasing in both number and flight range.
This was once an ordinary, peaceful community-with shops open, cars moving through the streets, and children playing in the yards. Now the settlement lives under the sounds of war every single day. The situation remains tense, and local authorities continue looking for ways to ensure the safety of residents in the region.
The conditions in Kharkiv region and Donetsk region highlight the severity of Ukraine’s humanitarian crisis, where war continues to upend the lives of ordinary people. Many residents, despite the constant threat, either cannot or will not abandon their homes, reflecting deep social and psychological consequences of the conflict. Government bodies and humanitarian organizations are working to find effective solutions to protect and support the civilian population amid the war.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has led to tragic consequences, as highlighted by recent incidents in the region. For instance, in a separate event, one civilian lost their life due to Russian shelling in Donetsk. Such occurrences underscore the persistent danger faced by residents in areas close to the front lines, further complicating the humanitarian crisis and the efforts to protect vulnerable communities.
