Border Guards Launch New Digital Tool to Check Travel Restrictions

Service for checking travel restrictions
Прикордонники запровадили новий електронний сервіс для моніторингу обмежень на перетин кордону.

New 'Personal Account' Service Goes Live

According to Главком: The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has introduced a free, real-time digital service called 'Personal Account' on its official website. This tool allows Ukrainian citizens to instantly check for any restrictions that might prevent them from crossing the state border. The system displays bans imposed by courts or the State Enforcement Service, including those related to:

  • unpaid child support,
  • outstanding administrative or court fines,
  • other financial debts.

Restrictions tied to martial law are not shown in the Personal Account, helping users focus on other issues that concern them. The verification process is fully automated and operates 24/7. To register, users must verify their identity through Diia.Signature, BankID, the id.gov.ua system, or a qualified electronic signature.

Faster Checks and Border Incidents

Previously, citizens had to wait up to 30 days for a response about their travel restrictions, which often complicated plans to leave the country. Now, the new service provides immediate results: users see on-screen whether any restrictions apply or if they are free to travel. This digital shift represents a major improvement for travelers seeking quick answers.

Separately, at the Medyka border checkpoint, Polish border guards detected a radioactive $100 bill in the luggage of a 54-year-old Ukrainian woman. The source of radiation was a banknote contaminated with an isotope used for medical purposes. The bill was removed and placed in a special protective container for further analysis.

Additionally, border areas have seen a rise in scams targeting women traveling alone in their own cars. Ukrainian travel agent Inesa has shared her personal experience with such schemes, urging women to stay vigilant during trips.

The launch of the 'Personal Account' service is a key step in simplifying procedures for crossing Ukraine's state border. It helps citizens quickly access up-to-date restriction information and avoid past delays. At the same time, the rise in border fraud highlights the need for extra caution, especially for solo female travelers. This shows that despite new digital tools, safety remains a critical concern for those heading abroad.

In light of recent developments, it's noteworthy that female civil servants in Ukraine are now facing fewer limitations when traveling abroad. This change complements the newly launched 'Personal Account' service, further enhancing the travel experience for various groups of citizens while ensuring they are aware of any potential restrictions.
