According to Прокуратура Київ: The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv District Administrative Court. The prosecutors are demanding that the Kyiv City Council not only establish the boundaries for the local landscape reserve 'Sovska Balka', which spans over 37 hectares, but also register this data in the State Land Cadastre. Furthermore, the lawsuit insists on the necessity of marking the territory with official information and protective signs, as well as preparing and issuing official conservation obligations.

This legal move by the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office seeks a court order to compel the City Council to finally demarcate the 'Sovska Balka' reserve, enter it into the cadastre, and install protective signage. This action became necessary because a 2020 decision to create the reserve was never implemented, leading to illegal use of the land. This case highlights ongoing challenges in Ukraine of translating environmental decrees into on-the-ground protection.

Illegal Land Exploitation

The reserve's territory is located between Koloskova and Petra Radchenko streets in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district. It is known that parts of the reserve's land have been exploited illegally for commercial activity. The court has already opened proceedings based on the prosecutor's lawsuit, according to information provided by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
