Warehouse work often seems like a simple way to get a job in Poland without experience and good knowledge of the language. However, job vacancies differ in terms of workload, hours, and payment systems, so it's important to understand the conditions before leaving. InPoland reports on this here. Warehouse vacancies are one of the available options for those considering work in Poland.

What positions and conditions are offered in warehouses in Poland

A picker collects orders using a scanner. The pace of work often depends on the norm – the number of products that need to be gathered per hour. A packer checks and packages orders: there is less walking involved, but the job requires constant hand movements.

Receiving and unloading goods usually require more physical effort. In some warehouses, higher pay might be offered for this work. A forklift operator must undergo appropriate training and obtain a UDT license, and their hourly rate is often higher than that of employees without such qualifications.

Earnings can consist of a base rate and a bonus for meeting the norms. During the first one or two weeks, newcomers are often given time to get used to the scanner and routes, but over time the conditions for bonuses may become decisive. Before signing a contract, it is advisable to clarify what the initial norm is and what it will be after a month, how much employees usually earn in bonuses, and whether it will be calculated for a part-time work week.

The schedule may include shifts of 8 or 10 hours, and some companies operate in two or three shifts. If the vacancy offers night hours or overtime work, it's necessary to clarify how these hours are paid. The number of shifts and actual hours should be checked before leaving, rather than relying solely on the maximum figures from the advertisement.

How much can be earned in a warehouse in Poland and what expenses to consider

Some vacancies provide housing from the employer or agency. This could be a room for two to four people in an apartment or house with a shared kitchen. The cost of living mentioned in this material is estimated at 350-550 zlotys per month, but this amount is often deducted from the salary.

Before going, it's advisable to ask how long it takes to get to the warehouse, whether transportation is organized, if utilities are included in the cost of housing, and what happens to the residence if an employee resigns or transfers to another site. Vacancies with short contracts may also exist in warehouses, but in those, it is especially important to agree in advance on payment and living conditions.

On the first day, employees usually go through safety training, receive work clothes and passes, and learn how to use the scanner. To adapt more easily, it is advised to bring comfortable insoles, water, and snacks. It is also useful to keep a daily record of hours worked and verify them against the payroll.

Real earnings depend on the rate, number of hours, type of contract, age of the worker, and meeting the norms. When comparing job offers, calculate the rate based on the actual number of hours and deduct housing and travel expenses. The bonus is better considered a potential supplement rather than guaranteed income. Warehouses remain a popular option: previously, Ukrainian candidates often chose vacancies in logistics centers, but the specific conditions of each offer should be verified separately.
