According to hvylya.net: Russia has actively begun conducting a propaganda campaign in the occupied territories ahead of the Day of Liberation of Donbas from Nazi occupation, reports the Center for Countering Disinformation.

'In Kremlin rhetoric, this day is considered particularly important and is associated with the cult of 'great Victory'. Propagandists are trying to compare the current occupation of Donbas with 'liberation from Nazism', creating the impression that Russian troops continue the glorious cause of the Soviet army.'

However, the reality of life in the occupied territory of Donbas is dire, with destruction and a humanitarian crisis. Many cities lack even stable water supply. 'Such 'celebrations' are useful for Moscow to divert attention from real problems. Instead of restoring and creating normal living conditions, the occupiers paint a propaganda picture of 'victory',' the Center noted.

The Kremlin sacrifices the memory of World War II to justify aggression

It is also emphasized that the Kremlin cynically uses the memory of World War II to preempt contemporary aggression and silence crimes in the occupied territories.

Ukrainian journalists have revealed that Russia has begun a large-scale propaganda campaign in the occupied territories ahead of the Day of Liberation of Donbas from Nazi occupation. The Kremlin is trying to shift the weight of celebrations onto the illusion of victory, distracting attention from real problems arising from the occupation. Russian propaganda uses the memory of World War II to justify aggression and conceal crimes in the occupied territory.
