Civilian Infrastructure Targeted in Russian Strikes, Killing Woman and Child
Civilian Infrastructure Attacked
According to Главком: On March 29, 2026, Russian occupying forces launched strikes against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions. These attacks resulted in civilian casualties and injuries, alongside significant damage to residential buildings and critical energy supply facilities. This latest assault is part of a broader pattern of attacks on non-military targets during the ongoing war.
Consequences of the Assaults
In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, airstrikes killed a 75-year-old woman in the village of Zarichne. Three other individuals were wounded: a 72-year-old man in Zarichne and a 77-year-old man in the village of Bilenke. The attack caused:
- The complete destruction of a private home and one non-residential building in Zarichne;
- Damage to a residential building in Bilenke;
- A fire, which was extinguished by rescuers from the State Emergency Service.
In Odesa Oblast, a critical energy supply facility was damaged, leading to power outages. Additionally, during the shelling of a recreational area, a 13-year-old girl died from her wounds. The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed the details of these events.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that over the preceding seven days, the enemy had launched 3,000 drones and 1,450 aerial bombs across Ukraine. These figures underscore a severe intensification of hostilities and their devastating impact on the civilian population.
These strikes reflect a continued escalation in the conflict, where civilians are repeatedly caught in the crossfire. Damage to critical infrastructure, such as power supplies, threatens local populations' access to electricity and basic services. The high volume of drone and bomb usage may indicate a shift in the aggressor's tactics and a worsening of the military situation in the region.
The recent escalation in attacks highlights a troubling trend, as seen in a separate incident where drone strikes targeted multiple regions, resulting in injuries and further damage to vital infrastructure. This pattern of aggression not only exacerbates the humanitarian crisis but also raises concerns about the safety of civilians caught in the conflict.
