Russian Fighters Violated Estonia's Airspace: Incident Details
According to glavcom.ua: On Friday, three Russian MiG-31 fighters entered Estonia's airspace over the Gulf of Finland without permission and remained there for 12 minutes. The country's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian chargé d'affaires regarding this incident.
“Russia has violated Estonia's airspace four times this year, which in itself is unacceptable. But today's incursion, where three fighters entered our airspace, is unprecedentedly audacious,” said Estonia's Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Previously, Estonia temporarily restricted flights along its eastern border due to increased activity of Russian troops and Ukrainian drones in the Leningrad region of Russia. This decision allows the Defense Forces to conduct more detailed aerial surveillance and security.
Security Measures on the Border
The Estonian Police and Border Guard Department is also constructing gates and various barriers at the Narva Bridge to block the border crossing to Russia if necessary.
As a result of the violation of Estonia's airspace by Russian aircraft, the country's government declared such actions unacceptable. Additional security measures have also been implemented at the border to ensure the country's protection against potential threats. The deployed security measures emphasize the importance of defending global peace and stability.
