Russia's Team Missing from 2027 IIHF World Championship

According to Главком: The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has confirmed that Russia's national hockey team will not participate in the 2027 World Championship. Former Russian national team head coach Vladimir Krikunov addressed the situation, stating:

“They shouted that sport is separate from politics, but for them, sport comes before politics. They absolutely refuse to let us in, they are simply mocking us. Our hockey level does not decline without international competitions-why would it? The only thing is that Latvia and Norway have caught up-and that's it.” – Vladimir Krikunov

Scheduled to take place in Germany across Düsseldorf and Mannheim, the 2027 tournament has had its group allocations finalized by the IIHF. Ukraine's national team will compete in Group A alongside defending world champions Finland. Other teams in Group A include:
