Roaming in the EU from 2024: lifecell Changes Conditions for Subscribers of Old Tariffs
Innovations in lifecell Customer Service
lifecell has announced innovations in customer service related to Ukraine's integration into the EU roaming space, which will begin on January 1, 2026. From January 1, 2024, Ukrainian tariffs will be effective in EU countries without additional charges, meaning that subscribers will be able to use their tariffs without extra costs while abroad in the European Union.
Changes in Tariffs and Conditions for Transition
At the same time, the company announced changes in tariffs concerning international roaming. The 'Do It Yourself', 'Handmade', and 'Unlimited Call' tariffs will no longer support international roaming. This means that subscribers using these tariffs will not be able to access roaming during their travels to the EU. Lifecell has also sent SMS notifications to all users regarding these changes.
For existing subscribers who wish to change their tariff, a free transition to another current tariff is possible until December 14, 2023. In particular, the following tariffs are available:
- Tariff 'Maxi' - 25 GB of internet for 190 hryvnias for 28 days
- Tariff 'Mega' - unlimited mobile internet for 350 hryvnias per month
The 'Smart Family' tariff is no longer available for connection. The choice of an alternative tariff for existing subscribers is valid until December 15, 2023, allowing users to find the optimal option for themselves before the start of the new roaming period.
The changes implemented by lifecell reflect the general trend of Ukraine's integration into the European roaming space, which will significantly simplify communication for Ukrainians during their travels. An important part of this process is the adaptation of tariff plans, which allows maintaining favorable conditions for subscribers planning to use mobile communications abroad. At the same time, the reduction of tariff plans that do not support roaming may encourage users to consider other options that better meet their needs under the new conditions. This could lead to changes in the competitive environment in the mobile communications market in Ukraine.
