Two Suspects Detained for Dnipro Car Bombing Targeting Ukrainian Soldier

Arrests Made in Connection with Terrorist Attack in Dnipro

According to Главком: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), working alongside the National Police, has apprehended two individuals responsible for a targeted car bombing that occurred on the morning of May 7 in Dnipro's Sobornyi District. Acting on orders from Russian intelligence agencies, the suspects used a remotely triggered explosive device to destroy a vehicle belonging to a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman.

The bomb detonated at approximately 7:30 a.m. after the perpetrators placed an improvised explosive device, rigged with a mobile phone, under the car. They activated it via a remote call. To provide proof to their Russian handlers, the attackers also set up a camera to record the explosion. Both suspects are residents of the Samarivskyi District in the Dnipropetrovsk region and received a monetary reward from Russian intelligence for carrying out the crime.

One of the detainees was captured while attempting to flee the country. During searches, authorities seized phones, SIM cards, and clothing. SBU investigators have formally charged both individuals under Article 258, Part 2 of Ukraine's Criminal Code (terrorist act). They are being held in pretrial detention without the possibility of bail, facing up to 12 years in prison and full confiscation of property.
