November 16: How Ukraine Celebrates Radio, Television, and Communication Day
Today, November 16, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Radio, Television, and Communication Workers. This professional holiday was established by a presidential decree in 1994 in recognition of the important role of these fields in the development of society and ensuring the information resilience of the state, reports 'Glavkom'.
The date of November 16 was chosen deliberately: on this day in 1924 in Kharkiv, which was then the capital of the Ukrainian SSR, the first radio broadcast of Ukrainian radio went on air.
The holiday is dedicated to all those who provide citizens with verified information and stable communication every day. These are journalists, editors, operators, publishers, as well as specialists in the telecommunications and internet sectors. Their work is extremely important for maintaining the information security of the country.
