U.S. Warns European Allies of Weapons Delivery Delays Due to Dwindling Stockpiles
Weapons Supply Delays
According to Главком: The United States has alerted its European partners to potential delays in fulfilling weapons supply contracts. This warning, reported by Hlavkom citing Reuters, stems from depleted U.S. defense stockpiles and could impact nations in Scandinavia and the Baltic region. These developments highlight the strain on Western military inventories as they support multiple global security commitments.
The delays affect armaments purchased through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program that have not yet been shipped. Neither the White House nor the Pentagon has commented on the situation. The pressure on the U.S. defense-industrial base intensified significantly following February airstrikes on Iranian targets, after Tehran launched attacks on Gulf states using hundreds of missiles and drones. To intercept these attacks, the U.S. has been actively using scarce Patriot (PAC-3) missiles.
Cooperation with European Partners
Amid efforts to bolster defense capabilities, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov met with Helmut Rauch, the CEO of leading German arms and air defense systems manufacturer Diehl Defence. According to Fedorov,
"We discussed specific solutions to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and the development of joint projects."
The meeting also addressed accelerating the supply of missiles for Iris-T systems and for F-16 fighter jets.
The U.S. supply delays could significantly affect the defense readiness of European countries, particularly given rising military threats. Ukraine, for its part, is actively seeking alternative solutions to reinforce its air defense, underscoring the priority of this issue for regional security. Cooperation with German arms manufacturers may become a crucial step in securing the necessary resources for Ukraine's defense.
As European nations face potential delays in U.S. defense supplies, Ukraine is proactively enhancing its air defense capabilities. Recent discussions between Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Diehl Defence's CEO highlight the urgency of securing advanced missile systems.
