USA lowered tariffs on Italian pasta: new rates for key brands
Reduction of anti-dumping duties on Italian pasta products
According to Главком: The United States has lowered anti-dumping tariffs on the import of Italian pasta products, according to information from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This decision was made ahead of the conclusion of an official investigation expected in March.
The U.S. Department of Commerce reviewed the tariffs, including:
- the tariff for the La Molisana brand has been reduced to 2.3%;
- for Garofalo to approximately 14%;
- for other companies - to 9.1%.
Previously, anti-dumping duties could reach nearly 92%. It should also be noted that the U.S. applies a general 15% tariff to many goods from the European Union.
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the review of tariffs is a sign of recognition by the U.S. authorities of the readiness of Italian companies to cooperate. This reduction in tariffs could positively impact the supply of Italian pasta to the American market, contributing to the strengthening of trade relations between the countries.
Prospects for Italian manufacturers
The reduction of anti-dumping duties on Italian pasta products indicates a gradual improvement in trade relations between the U.S. and Italy. This decision may open new opportunities for Italian manufacturers seeking to increase their market share in the U.S.
Further results of the investigation, which will conclude in March, are expected to influence the final tariff rates and the further development of the situation.
