Scholarship Increases in Ukraine Effective September 1, 2026
According to ХВИЛЯ: A major rise in student scholarship payments is scheduled to take effect in Ukraine on September 1, 2026. Both academic and named awards will be doubled, providing a significant boost to financial support for students. Ukraine’s 2026 state budget allocates 6.6 billion hryvnias for scholarships, an increase of 1.2 billion hryvnias compared to the previous year. This move is part of broader efforts to ease financial pressures on students and encourage higher education enrollment.
Key Changes to Scholarship Amounts
Among the main adjustments, the Presidential Scholarship for university students will increase from 10,000 to 20,000 hryvnias per month. The Verkhovna Rada Scholarship for university students will also rise, from 4,400 to 8,800 hryvnias. Likewise, the Cabinet of Ministers Scholarship for university students will go up from 4,000 to 8,000 hryvnias. The minimum academic scholarship at universities will increase from 2,000 to 4,000 hryvnias, while the enhanced academic scholarship (for outstanding achievements) will grow from 2,910 to 5,820 hryvnias. Sector-based payments will amount to 5,100 hryvnias, with enhanced sector-based payments reaching 7,420 hryvnias.
College students will also see changes. The Presidential Scholarship will rise from 7,600 to 15,200 hryvnias, and the Parliamentary Scholarship from 3,320 to 6,640 hryvnias. The minimum academic payment at colleges will increase from 1,510 to 3,020 hryvnias, with the enhanced academic scholarship reaching 4,394 hryvnias. The sector-based scholarship at colleges will be 3,860 hryvnias, and the enhanced sector-based scholarship will be 5,618 hryvnias.
