The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip deepens

According to glavcom.ua: According to the UN, residents of the Gaza Strip face a severe shortage of food and other essential goods due to limited access to humanitarian aid, caused by the blockade enforced by Israel. UNRWA representative Natalie Bukhli emphasized the criticality of the situation, especially in the cold weather.

Bukhli noted that UNRWA could supply food and necessary items in large quantities outside of Gaza to meet the population's needs.

Our supplies could feed all the residents for a long time. But right now they are in Jordan and Egypt and cannot be delivered.

Regular truck deliveries to Gaza do not solve the people's problems, Bukhli stresses. Israel, as an occupying power, violates international humanitarian law by not providing for the residents of the Gaza Strip. Despite this, Israeli authorities have suspended cooperation with UNRWA and accuse the agency of having ties with Hamas.

We are here only because the international community has failed to find a political solution to this conflict.

UNRWA's representative called on the international community to pressure the Israeli government to ensure unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. She also requested financial assistance of $200 million by March.
