Abandoned Fountain at Kyiv’s Expocenter Restored, Hundreds of New Trees Planted Across the City
Fountain Renovation at the National Complex Expocenter of Ukraine
According to Главком: A long-neglected fountain adjacent to the Therapeutic Garden on the grounds of the National Complex Expocenter of Ukraine (VDNG) has undergone a full restoration. The work involved replacing the pump, nozzles, and the fountain basin’s inner liner, while preserving the original granite border. A warm LED lighting system was installed to enhance the fountain’s evening ambiance. Surrounding the fountain, a new recreational zone now features benches with backrests, offering visitors a comfortable place to relax.
Other Urban Improvements in Kyiv
Several other notable changes have taken place across the capital. In the parterre section of Peremoha Park, three oversized structures adorned with surfinias have been added, enriching the park’s landscape. Meanwhile, on Amvrosii Buchma Boulevard in the Dnipro district, a tulip tree (Liriodendron) has bloomed-a species whose ancestors thrived across Eurasia during the Cretaceous period, roughly 100 million years ago.
This year, Kyiv also expanded the number of areas with restricted grass mowing to 119 locations, covering a total of 251 hectares. This initiative helps preserve natural habitats within the urban environment and boosts biodiversity. The fountain restoration, new plantings, and changes in green space management reflect the city government’s efforts to enhance quality of life and create a more pleasant environment for both residents and visitors.
These infrastructure upgrades underscore Kyiv’s commitment to improving ecological conditions and the aesthetic appeal of public spaces. The renovated fountain and new landscape features increase comfort for locals and tourists alike, while also supporting natural resource conservation. Such projects represent important steps toward building a sustainable urban environment in Ukraine.
In addition to the fountain restoration, the city is actively enhancing other green spaces, such as the upcoming improvements in Kotlyarevsky Park, where 5,000 new flowers and upgraded benches will be introduced by the weekend. These efforts illustrate Kyiv's dedication to creating vibrant and inviting public areas for all residents and visitors.
