Kyiv’s Ongoing Removal of Unauthorized Structures

According to Главком: Over the past week, authorities in Kyiv dismantled 61 temporary structures across five districts, reclaiming 908.55 square meters of public space. Of these, 19 were voluntarily removed by their owners after receiving official orders. The operation took place in the Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Pecherskyi, and Podilskyi districts. This initiative is part of a broader citywide campaign to enhance urban aesthetics and safety for residents.

Breakdown of Removal Statistics

Specifically, Solomianskyi District saw the highest number of removals with 31 structures, followed by Shevchenkivskyi with 19, Sviatoshynskyi with 8, Pecherskyi with 2, and Podilskyi with just 1. The types of structures removed included:

  • pavilions
  • kiosks
  • lottery equipment
  • flower and clothing retail points
  • summer terraces
  • gazebos
  • garages
  • fences
  • security booths
  • barriers

In three instances, alcohol sales were detected, and authorities found 11 cases where structures exceeded their permitted size limits.

Some removals were prompted by resident complaints about illegal kiosks located near apartment buildings. Municipal services also finished clearing the Kharkiv Highway corridor of temporary structures, with plans to widen the roadway and improve pedestrian infrastructure on the newly freed land.

This dismantling effort is part of a larger municipal campaign aimed at improving urban spaces and raising the quality of life for residents.

Freeing up these areas will not only allow for road expansion but also create more comfortable conditions for pedestrians. Such measures are expected to reduce the number of illegal structures and strengthen compliance with city beautification rules.

As Kyiv continues its efforts to reclaim public spaces, recent actions in the Obolon District highlight the city's commitment to urban improvement. In a related incident, authorities demolished an illegal fence and a bus parking lot on land valued at over 4 million hryvnias. Such measures not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city but also ensure adherence to legal standards. For more details on this significant development, read about the demolition in Obolon.
