Curfew Imposed in Crimea Following Drone Attack
Restrictions Enacted in Crimea After Drone Strike
According to Главком: In the wake of a drone attack that occurred during the night of June 21, authorities in occupied Crimea have introduced a series of restrictions. Among the key measures is the imposition of a curfew aimed at ensuring security across the peninsula. Additionally, ferry service to Russia has been suspended, and the sale of fuel to civilians has been banned for June 22 and 23. According to Mikhail Razvozhayev and Sergey Aksyonov, refueling will only be permitted for vehicles belonging to special services that support the functioning and security of the Republic of Crimea.
Impact on Local Residents
Public transportation in Crimea will operate from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Meanwhile, ferries will not run, and only passenger boats will be allowed to provide transport. Shopping centers, supermarkets, and hypermarkets will have limited hours, opening from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Street lighting in cities will be turned off, further disrupting the daily routines of the population.
The drone attack, which took place on the night of June 21, caused explosions in Simferopol, Kerch, and Sevastopol. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the strikes targeted the occupiers' military logistics, oil industry, and air defense systems. As a result, facilities on both sides of the Crimean Bridge were damaged, and a fuel depot in Kerch was hit. In the Krasnodar region, maritime logistics for oil transportation also sustained damage.
Due to damage to power grids, parts of occupied Crimea have been left without electricity. In Sevastopol, a temporary power outage schedule has been introduced, further complicating life for local residents. As Sergey Aksyonov stated,
“Today, June 21, starting at 9:00 AM, fuel sales at Crimean gas stations have been halted for both cash and cashless payments.”
These events highlight the growing tension in the region, driven by military actions and the corresponding security measures taken by the occupation authorities. The restrictions on movement and fuel sales underscore the seriousness of the situation, as well as efforts to manage the aftermath of the attacks. The worsening living conditions for local residents, due to the curfew and power outages, could lead to increased social strain in the area.
As the situation in Crimea continues to evolve, the recent drone attack has not only led to a curfew but also triggered significant disruptions in essential services.
