In Poland, employers are looking for workers from Asia and South America instead of Ukrainians
The Polish labor market has started to change after years of dependence on Ukrainian labor. Employers are increasingly attracting workers from Asia and South America, and experts warn that this trend may affect Ukrainians' opportunities to return to work in Poland after the war ends. This is reported by StopCor.
Poland is looking for new workers instead of Ukrainians
For many years, Ukrainians were the largest group of foreign workers in Poland. However, recently companies are increasingly looking to other countries as sources of labor.
In particular, tens of thousands of citizens from Colombia and the Philippines are already working in the Polish market. Employers are also actively hiring workers from Nepal, India, and several other countries.
New personnel are being attracted primarily in sectors that traditionally experience personnel shortages:
-
industry;
-
logistics;
-
transport;
-
warehousing.
Why employers are changing their hiring approach
Michał Solecki, president of Worksol Group, stated that the process of diversifying the labor market has already begun.
«The process of replacing workers from Ukraine has already started. The market is quickly being filled with people from Asia and South America», — he noted.
According to the expert, Polish companies are no longer focusing solely on Ukrainian workers and are actively exploring new labor markets.

What this means for Ukrainians after the war
Experts do not rule out that after the war ends, it will be more difficult for some Ukrainians to return to the Polish labor market.
The reason is that companies are already investing resources in the adaptation and training of new workers. If these processes are successful, employers may not need to massively replace personnel in the future.
At the same time, Ukrainians remain one of the most important groups of foreign workers in Poland. However, the trend of recent years indicates a gradual increase in competition from labor migrants from Asia and South America.
Recall that new rules for drivers have come into force in Poland which may significantly impact Ukrainians using cars in the country.
