Ukraine Launches 'Mentorship: Your Experience in Action' to Support Vulnerable Teens
New Mentorship Campaign Launched
According to Міністерство соц. політики: A new public awareness campaign, 'Mentorship: Your Experience in Action,' has been launched to recruit mentors for teenagers lacking parental support. This initiative is a collaborative effort between Ukrainian state bodies, civil society organizations, and international partners. Even everyday skills like cooking a meal, navigating public transport, or writing a resume represent valuable life experience that can make a significant difference for these young people.
Organizations Involved
The campaign is being implemented by Ukraine's Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity. Key partners in its execution include:
- The Coordination Center for Family Uphringing and Childcare Development
- The 'DIYMO' Office for Children and Youth
- The 'Ukrainian Network for Children's Rights' Public Union
This initiative forms part of the broader 'Support for Children and Youth with Experience of Alternative Care' project, which is being carried out in partnership with UNICEF.
The project receives financial backing from several international organizations, namely the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union, the Government of Sweden, and the state development bank KfW. It should be noted that the campaign's content does not necessarily reflect the official positions of the governments of Germany, the EU, Sweden, or UNICEF. Those interested in mentorship opportunities can find more information on the website dity.gov.ua.
The launch of this campaign marks a critical step in aiding adolescents facing difficult life circumstances, aiming to equip them with essential skills and knowledge for social integration. Such public-private partnerships are increasingly common in post-conflict societies rebuilding social services. This collaboration underscores Ukraine's commitment to safeguarding the rights of children and youth while raising awareness of mentorship's vital role in their development.
As part of ongoing efforts to support vulnerable youth, initiatives like the mentorship campaign complement other governmental programs aimed at aiding young individuals in challenging situations. For instance, the recent announcement of financial assistance for youth returning from deportation highlights the government's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for all adolescents.
