Ukrainian figure skater Marsak showed the best result for Ukraine in 28 years at the 2026 Olympics
Ukrainian figure skater Kyrylo Marsak with a personal record made it to the free program of the 2026 Olympic Games and showed one of the best results in the history of Ukraine in men's single skating. This is reported by Suspilne Sport.
On Tuesday, February 10, the short program skates among men took place. 29 figure skaters participated in the competitions, of which 24 received spots in the free program. Marsak performed under the eighth start number and scored 86.89 points for his skate, which allowed him to guarantee his place in the next round in advance.
The Ukrainian athlete not only outperformed at least six opponents but also updated his personal record in the short program by 10 points. By the end of the day, Kyrylo Marsak took 11th place, trailing the competition leader Ilia Malinin from the USA by 21.27 points.
Marsak's Result at the 2026 Olympics
The Ukrainian's result became the third best in the history of Ukraine's performances in the short program among men at the Olympic Games. Previously, only two Ukrainian figure skaters managed to make it into the top 10:
