Heating Shelters for Passengers in Ukraine and Poland

According to Главком: In a collaborative winter support effort, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) and the Polish railway company PKP PLK have established warming shelters for passengers. One such facility is operating at the Przemyśl station, where Polish rail workers provided a heated tent and their Ukrainian counterparts supplied hot tea and staff. This shelter, open from early morning until late night, has already served 150 people, offering a warm place to rest while waiting for trains.

Furthermore, Ukrzaliznytsia has opened a 'Point of Invincibility' in the Polish city of Chełm. On its first day, over a hundred passengers used this facility. Five pairs of passenger trains from Ukraine serve Chełm station, where heated railcars are also stationed. One car features a children's play area, along with spaces for feeding and changing infants, and provides coloring books, drawing kits, and device charging stations.

Expanding the Heating Point Network in Kyiv

In Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, the heating point network was urgently expanded following an enemy attack that left some residential buildings without heating. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) deployed additional 'Alaska' mobile heating complexes at four locations. Support centers based in local schools have also been activated, allowing residents to stay day and night. These initiatives are a critical response to the ongoing challenges of war and winter, providing essential relief to civilians affected by infrastructure damage.

'You can rest in warmth and drink hot tea in this tent. It is open from early morning until night-essentially for the entire duration that trains to and from Ukraine are running,' stated the Ukrzaliznytsia press service.

Company employees also assured that they 'will meet you at these heating points,' highlighting their commitment to supporting passengers during the difficult winter season.

These measures reflect the joint efforts of both countries to ensure passenger comfort during winter, particularly amid the ongoing energy crisis and the consequences of military aggression. Establishing these shelters not only improves conditions for travelers but also demonstrates solidarity between Ukraine and Poland during a challenging time. Such actions are vital for supporting the morale of people enduring hardship.
