Уряд України виділив два мільярди гривень на придбання нових автобусів для шкіл: оголошено, хто отримає їх у першу чергу.

Funding Approved for School Bus Purchases in 2026

According to Главком: The Ukrainian government has approved the allocation of 2 billion hryvnias for the purchase of school buses in 2026. This funding will secure over 540 new buses, significantly improving transportation for students to their educational institutions. This initiative is part of a broader national program aimed at modernizing school transport infrastructure across the country. This ongoing effort is crucial for ensuring reliable access to education, particularly in rural and conflict-affected areas.

This follows the previous year's 'School Bus' program, which saw a budget of 2.7 billion hryvnias in 2025 used to purchase approximately 700 buses from Ukrainian manufacturers. The government emphasizes the critical importance of safety in educational facilities, especially under martial law. Updated safety standards will be implemented during this period, including the mandatory installation of metal detectors and an expanded video surveillance network in Ukrainian schools.

Conditions for Receiving Bus Subsidies

To qualify for the bus subsidy, an educational institution must have its own shelter or one located nearby, and provide co-financing from local budgets. Institutions serving children with special educational needs will receive priority for specially equipped buses. The first buses will be allocated to: schools that will become academic lyceums starting in the 2027/2028 academic year; schools receiving students from institutions that were liquidated or reorganized in 2026; special schools and rehabilitation centers; and schools with at least 200 students or more than 100 pupils.

The approval of this funding for school buses demonstrates the government's commitment to improving educational infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges the country faces.

The introduction of new safety standards and the prioritization of institutions with special needs underscore the importance of accessibility and security for all students. This decision is expected to have a substantial impact on education quality by providing students with safer and more comfortable commutes to school.
