Ukrainian Government Approves One-Time 1500 Hryvnia Payment for Pensioners in April 2026

Pensioners will receive a one-time payment of 1500 UAH
Уряд України затвердив одноразову виплату 1500 гривень для пенсіонерів у квітні 2026 року.

One-Time Payment for Specific Citizen Groups

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has approved a one-time payment of 1500 hryvnias for specific categories of citizens, scheduled for distribution in April 2026. This measure, enacted under Resolution No. 341, comes with specific eligibility criteria, including a pension income threshold. It is crucial to note that the payment is granted only once per individual, even if a person qualifies under multiple categories, with certain exceptions.

The primary eligibility restriction is a pension ceiling of 25,950 hryvnias. Individuals whose pension exceeds this amount will not receive the one-time assistance. However, this limit is waived for war veterans, participants in Ukraine's defense since 2014, and for the families of fallen or missing defenders, as well as for liquidators of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. As legal experts clarify,

"for veterans, families of fallen defenders, and Chornobyl liquidators, the payment is provided regardless of pension size."

Purpose and Impact of the Payment

The system will automatically cross-reference registries and disburse the exact sum of 1500 hryvnias. This payment is a targeted, one-time form of aid. It is not a court-ordered settlement, a debt repayment, or a permanent pension supplement. Instead, it is a singular act of state support designed to alleviate the financial strain for certain citizens during the specified period.

It is also noteworthy that a pension indexation occurred in March 2026, resulting in an average increase of approximately 519 hryvnias and 20 kopiykas. Therefore, the 1500 hryvnia one-time payment represents an additional support measure for those in greatest need. This initiative is part of the Ukrainian government's broader efforts to assist vulnerable populations amidst ongoing economic challenges, where inflation and rising costs significantly impact household budgets. The specific inclusion of veterans and their families underscores the societal priority placed on supporting these groups.

In addition to the recent one-time payment for pensioners, the Ukrainian government has also approved a similar initiative aimed at providing financial support to 13 million Ukrainians in April 2026. This broader assistance reflects the government's commitment to addressing the needs of its citizens during challenging times.
