Poland remains the main country of residence for Ukrainian citizens abroad. As of February 24, 2025, around 1.55 million Ukrainians held valid residence permits in Poland. The vast majority are under the temporary protection PESEL UKR, introduced after the onset of the full-scale war. This is reported by inPoland.
According to the Office for Foreigners, the largest number of Ukrainians is concentrated in the Mazovian Voivodeship. This region accounts for over 20% of all Ukrainian citizens legally residing in Poland.
In which province of Poland do the most Ukrainians live
The absolute leader in terms of the Ukrainian community remains the Mazovian Voivodeship with its center in Warsaw. The region attracts with its developed labor market, high salaries, and access to state and social services, which is especially important for people with temporary protection status.
In addition to the Mazovian Voivodeship, a significant number of Ukrainians live in the following regions:

Settlement of Ukrainians in Poland: why large regions are chosen
Experts note that the choice of residence for Ukrainians in Poland is directly related to the ability to quickly find work and achieve financial independence. Large urban agglomerations offer a wider choice of vacancies, access to education for children, medical services, and social support.
As long as the war in Ukraine continues and the security situation remains unstable, the economically powerful regions, primarily the Mazovian Voivodeship, will continue to be the main centers for Ukrainian residence in Poland.
