In Okhtyrka, fare increase for minibuses planned for May
In Okhtyrka, they are preparing to review the fare for minibuses — it may increase from 13 to 20 hryvnias as early as May. Carriers explain this by the sharp rise in costs and a decrease in the number of passengers. According to Suspilne.
Minibus Fare in Okhtyrka: Why They Want to Raise the Tariff
According to drivers, the current fare no longer covers even basic costs. In particular, a full tank of the minibus costs over 2,000 hryvnias.
«To fill up, you need more than 2,000. There are no people now… at least 15 hryvnias, at least 17, but not 13», — says minibus driver Valerii Serhienko.
Carriers also emphasize that without a price increase, some routes may disappear. According to their calculations, an economically justified fare reaches 28 hryvnias, but they propose a compromise — 20 hryvnias.
Transport Tariffs: What Figures Are Being Considered
The city council confirms that the fare has not been revised since 2023, although costs have increased significantly.
According to official calculations:
- economically justified fare — from 30 to 37 UAH
- proposed by carriers — 20 UAH.
Inna Biskupska, head of the transport infrastructure department, notes that the fare depends on the route length and passenger flow, but carriers have agreed on a single price that is lower than real costs.
Residents' Reactions and the Situation with Routes
Local residents have mixed feelings about the possible fare increase. Some consider it too sharp, especially given the level of income.
«Given our pensions and salaries, this is unreasonable», — says local resident Svitlana Zinkivska.
At the same time, the city already has problems with transport: 12 routes are currently not serviced due to a lack of carriers.
In case of a fare increase, carriers promise to maintain benefits and even expand them for certain categories, including children and families of military personnel.
The fare increase may help to keep the routes operational, but at the same time will increase costs for residents who use public transport daily.
Recall that in Kremenchuk, from May 1, 2026, tariffs for public transport are changing.
