Explosions in occupied territories: massive attack on energy facilities at night
On the night of November 2, explosions were heard in the occupied Alchevsk in the Luhansk region and in Kursk. This is reported by 'Glavcom' citing Exilenova+.
In the occupied Luhansk region, an attack hit a substation, leaving locals without electricity. Local Telegram channels report that a fire broke out following the drone attack. According to some data, transformer oil is on fire.
A substation was also hit in Zheleznogorsk in Kursk region.
Attacks on Energy Infrastructure
Recall that on the night of October 31, the Oryol CHPP was attacked in the city of Oryol, Russia. The main purpose of the CHPP is to produce electric and thermal energy for the needs of the city of Oryol and the adjacent areas. A substation was also attacked in the Vladimir region.
In addition, in the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation, a ballistic missile of the 'Oreshnik' complex was destroyed on the night of July 8 to 9, 2024, on the territory of the 'Kapustin Yar' range. The operation was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Security Service, and the Foreign Intelligence Service.
It is worth noting that yesterday, October 30, Russian invaders once again attacked energy infrastructure. The Sloviansk TPP came under fire.
Earlier, The Economist reported that Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are gaining new scales. The Kremlin is actively using cheap Shahed drones and missiles for pinpoint strikes on the country's electrical grids. With the arrival of winter, Russia seeks to destroy key elements of the energy system, hoping to make large parts of Ukraine uninhabitable.
Ukraine continues to face threats of attacks on its energy infrastructure both in occupied territories and in controlled areas. These new incidents indicate the continuation of the conflict and the desire to destabilize the situation in the region through attacks on energy facilities.
