Russia is using Ukrainian SIM cards for drones: why the internet may be disabled
According to hvylya.net: Ukrainian experts explained why mobile internet may be disabled during an air alert. According to a specialist from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this may be necessary in case enemy drones use SIM cards from other countries for communication and providing information about the situation.
The leading idea is that the bill under consideration in Ukraine may allow for the restriction of mobile internet during alerts, which could be an important security measure in case of mass drone launches. Experts emphasized the possibility of reducing data transmission speeds for Ukrainian drones if necessary.
'It may be advisable to reduce internet speed to limit, for example, the transmission of information to the FPV-drone camera. Technically, this is possible. And if tomorrow the Russians launch drones using Ukrainian cards on a large scale, then it will really make sense,' the expert emphasized.
The specialist also commented on the incident with Russian drones that entered Poland, noting that Ukrainian electronic warfare means did not detect the activity of the drones. 'Everything was aimed at allowing the drones to reach Poland,' added the expert.
The mentioned experts explained that disabling mobile internet during alerts could be a justified security measure in conditions where the enemy may use drones equipped with foreign SIM cards for gathering and transmitting information. This step is anticipated in the bill under consideration in Ukraine as one of the possible measures to enhance the country's security in conditions of technical threats.
