The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched the 112 app without mobile connection: how to get help
According to glavcom.ua: The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched the emergency assistance service '112', which works even without a mobile connection. According to Minister Ihor Klymenko, this service allows for quick and effective calls for help in critical situations through a special app, automatically summoning necessary services to the scene: rescuers, police, medics, or gas service.
When should you use the 112 service?
- If you are in a basement or in a place with Wi-Fi but without a mobile connection;
- In areas with poor reception;
- During emergencies or disruptions in mobile networks.
The Minister also stated that the 112 service will be constantly improved, and there are plans to even add the ability to call using sign language to make it accessible to all users. Users' personal data is protected by state cybersecurity standards and is used only for processing emergency calls.
'112 is the opportunity to get help in any conditions, even when other means of communication are unavailable,' emphasized the Minister.
In addition, Ukrainians can now utilize new capabilities of the Starlink satellite communication, including the Direct to Cell feature, which allows iPhone owners to send SMS via satellite.
The introduction of the '112' service and new satellite communication capabilities give Ukrainians a chance to quickly and effectively call for help in critical situations, even with limited mobile connectivity. This is another step towards enhancing safety and the prompt provision of assistance in Ukraine.
