Former European Parliament Deputy Convicted of Bribery for Russia: Case Details
According to glavcom.ua: Former leader of the Reform UK party in Wales, Nathan Gill, received a lengthy sentence for accepting bribes from Russia for his speeches. According to The Guardian, Gill pleaded guilty to bribery and is already serving a 10.5-year prison sentence. He obtained funds from Kremlin clients while he was still a member of the European Parliament.
After Gill's arrest, Defense Minister Al Carnes urged the party to conduct a detailed investigation to rid itself of pro-Russian influences. The investigation concluded that the former leader's motives were financial distress and that his actions supported the Kremlin's position against Ukraine.
