Iran Steps Back from U.S. Deal

According to Главком: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has distanced himself from an agreement with the United States that grants Tehran economic benefits and postpones nuclear program talks. Khamenei authorized the deal under the responsibility of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who pledged to protect citizens’ rights and the resistance front, including Hezbollah. Despite this, Khamenei fundamentally disagrees with signing the document and criticizes U.S. President Donald Trump’s actions, calling them a desperate move.

Ready to Retaliate

Senior Iranian officials have thanked Khamenei for his stance and declared their readiness to respond. Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led the negotiations, stated that

“Iran’s hand remains on the trigger”

and the country is ‘ready to deliver a devastating response without hesitation, the taste of which the enemy has already experienced during the war.’

Tehran has postponed planned talks with the U.S. and imposed additional conditions for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Warning shots were fired near the Strait of Hormuz, though this information has not been officially confirmed. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has called on ships to avoid this strategic maritime route.

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a complete end to the naval blockade of Iran, meaning American forces will no longer obstruct vessels heading to Iranian ports. Political analyst Ali Afshari notes that a confrontational course persists, as the negotiation process between the U.S. and Iran is under threat due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

This situation underscores the growing friction between Iran and the U.S., which could impact regional security and stability. Iran’s withdrawal from the deal and the escalation in the Strait of Hormuz may lead to new military conflicts and economic consequences for countries dependent on this strategic waterway. The next steps by both nations will likely shape developments in the region and their international relations.

The recent developments in Iran's stance towards the U.S. agreement raise concerns about the security dynamics in the region. As tensions escalate, Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could further complicate diplomatic relations and impact global oil supplies, highlighting the precarious balance of power in the Middle East.
