Vaccination in Ukraine

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: All vaccines listed in the national Preventive Vaccination Calendar are provided at no cost and are available in medical facilities throughout the country. Ukraine’s immunization schedule protects children against 11 serious infections, including polio, measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, and hepatitis B.

Adults are also eligible for revaccination. Boosters for diphtheria and tetanus are recommended every 10 years. As of January 1, 2026, Ukraine will implement an updated Preventive Vaccination Calendar featuring several key changes:

  • HPV vaccination,
  • adoption of modern polio vaccination approaches,
  • revised immunization schedules for children.

These updates aim to improve public health and reduce the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases.

Updates to the Preventive Vaccination Calendar

The revised calendar aligns with global vaccination standards and introduces new vaccine types designed to lower infection rates. In an era of globalization and frequent epidemics, timely revaccination and the introduction of new vaccines are critical. These measures can significantly improve Ukraine’s epidemiological situation and safeguard the population against potentially dangerous diseases.

As part of the updated vaccination schedule, the introduction of free HPV vaccinations for girls aged 12–13 marks a significant step towards enhancing public health in Ukraine. This initiative not only aligns with global health standards but also aims to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer among young women, further emphasizing the importance of comprehensive immunization efforts.
