Overall combat losses of the Russian Federation

According to Кабмін: The overall combat losses of the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine, which has been ongoing since February 24, 2022, have exceeded 1.2 million people. As of December 26, 2025, the total number of personnel that has suffered losses amounts to approximately 1,202,070 people, including an increase of 840 people during the latest reporting period.

Equipment losses

In addition to personnel losses, Russia has also suffered significant losses in equipment. In particular:

  • 23,804 armored combat vehicles have been recorded, an increase of 3 units.
  • 35,509 artillery systems have been lost, of which 74 units were destroyed during the latest reporting period.

In the airspace, the losses include:

  • The number of operational-tactical drones is 95,334, an increase of 537 units.
  • Ships and boats have also suffered losses, reducing their number to 28 units.
  • Automotive equipment and tank trucks amount to 71,454 units, of which 180 units were destroyed.

These data indicate serious losses that the Russian Federation has suffered during the conflict with Ukraine.

The loss of a significant number of personnel and equipment indicates the duration and intensity of the hostilities that have lasted for over three years. The increase in losses in military equipment also suggests that the conflict continues to affect Russia's defense and security capabilities. These figures may have a significant impact on the further strategy of conducting the war and on the internal politics of the Russian Federation, as increasing losses may cause discontent among the population and reduce support for the war.
