Ukrainian President's Visit to France

According to Главком: During his visit to France, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed deep concern over a temporary U.S. authorization allowing the sale of Russian oil, which analysts say could provide Russia with an additional $10 billion. This authorization, effective until April 11, permits the supply and sale of crude oil and petroleum products loaded onto vessels since March 12. The ongoing war in Ukraine is heavily funded by Russian energy exports, which remain a critical point of international sanctions policy.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the Élysée Palace around 14:00 on March 13, where he was met by French President Emmanuel Macron. During their meeting, Zelenskyy emphasized the financial impact of the U.S. decision, stating:

“Against the backdrop of America's decisions to partially ease sanctions on Russian oil currently on tankers at sea, this single easing by America alone could give Russia about $10 billion for the war.”

Analysts estimate Russia could earn up to $150 million daily from oil sales, significantly boosting its financial capacity to wage war.

International Support for Ukraine

Zelenskyy also reported that more than 10 countries have approached Ukraine for support in defending against drones, including 'Shahed' models. This indicates growing international backing for Ukraine as it faces sustained Russian aggression. The request highlights how battlefield tactics, such as drone warfare, have global security implications.

Zelenskyy's visit to France and his statements underscore the serious implications of financing Russian aggression through oil sales. The temporary U.S. waiver has raised alarms not only in Ukraine but within the international community, as these funds could directly support the continuation of the war. The increasing support from other nations for Ukraine's defense further demonstrates global concern for security and stability in the region.
