Zelenskyy Proposes a 'Silent Swap' to Middle East Nations: Drones for PAC-3 Missiles
The President's Initiative
According to Главком: On March 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put forward a proposal for a 'silent exchange' to Middle Eastern nations. Under this plan, Ukraine would provide expertise and interceptor drones to help defend the region against Iranian 'Shahed' drones. In return, Ukraine seeks to receive scarce PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability-3) surface-to-air missiles, which are vital for protecting Ukrainian cities from ballistic missile threats. This proposal comes as Ukraine seeks to bolster its air defenses against sophisticated Russian attacks, which increasingly include Iranian-supplied weaponry.
President Zelenskyy has held consultations with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Israel to discuss this initiative. The strategic importance of PAC-3 missiles was underscored by the fact that 800 of them were launched in the Middle East over a recent three-day period. These missiles are specifically designed to destroy tactical ballistic missiles.

Ukraine's Strategic Approach
This proposal could mark a significant step in cooperation between Ukraine and Middle Eastern countries, especially given the growing threat from Iranian drones. Zelenskyy's initiative reflects a strategic approach to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities amid ongoing Russian aggression and threats from Iran.
Collaboration with Middle Eastern nations could not only help Ukraine obtain critical resources for its protection but also strengthen regional relationships, which is of considerable importance in the current climate of global political tension. The discussions with the leaders of these countries demonstrate an intensification of Ukraine's diplomatic efforts on the international stage.
