Commitment to Vladyslav Vanat

According to Главком: Spanish club Girona has decided to keep Ukrainian national team striker Vladyslav Vanat for the upcoming season, even after being relegated to a lower division. The Catalan side plans to maintain Vanat's current salary despite the financial challenges of playing in the Segunda División. La Liga has set aside nearly €46 million from television revenues for the three teams that dropped out of the top flight, with Girona set to receive a compensation package of approximately €18 million.

Club leadership is considering selling some key players to ease the wage bill and retain Vanat. The final decision on his future at Girona rests with the player himself. Vanat moved to Spanish football during the summer transfer window from Dynamo Kyiv, where he has since made 29 appearances for Girona, scoring ten goals and providing two assists.

Transfer Negotiations

Additionally, Girona has opened discussions regarding the transfer of Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov to Turkish club Trabzonspor. The 28-year-old is a target for Trabzonspor, which aims to strengthen its attack following the move of Ukrainian midfielder Oleksandr Zubkov to Greek side AEK. Ukrainian defender Arseniy Batagov also plays for the Turkish club. This season, Tsygankov has played 34 matches, scoring seven goals and delivering five assists. His contract runs until June 2027, and his market value is set at €15 million.

Furthermore, Girona has confirmed the departure of coach Míchel, whose contract expired on June 30. Both parties mutually decided not to extend the agreement. Míchel took over Girona in the summer of 2021 and led the team to promotion to La Liga at the first attempt. During his four seasons at the helm, the club competed in the top division.

Girona's support for Vladyslav Vanat is a crucial step for the club amid financial difficulties following relegation to the Segunda División. Keeping him in the squad could provide stability in the lower division and attract other players to the club.

At the same time, the coaching change and potential transfers of other players signal that Girona is preparing for significant changes next season, which could impact its sporting performance. It remains to be seen what further decisions the club will make and how the careers of its Ukrainian players will develop.

As Girona navigates financial adjustments post-relegation, the club's strategy includes potential player sales, notably of Viktor Tsygankov, who has garnered interest from Trabzonspor. His performance this season has made him a valuable asset, and discussions about his future are heating up.
