Prada acquires Versace for $1.4 billion: the Italian brand returns under the control of the country
Prada has acquired Versace
The Italian fashion house Prada has successfully completed the acquisition of Versace from Capri Holdings. According to information from the Prada Group, the deal has received all necessary regulatory approvals.
The deal amounts to nearly $1.4 billion, bringing Versace back under Italian control after seven years of ownership by the American holding. Capri Holdings acquired Versace in 2018 for $2 billion, but due to a slowdown in the luxury goods market, it did not achieve the expected results.
The deal with Prada and the strengthening of Versace
In January 2025, Capri Holdings began negotiations to sell Versace, and in April, Prada reached an agreement. The completion of the deal strengthens the positions of the Italian luxury giant. Versace's revenue could account for about 13% of Prada, leading to a 17% increase in profit to 5.4 billion euros in 2024 for the Prada Group.
