Fuel Crisis in Crimea as Ukrainian Forces Destroy 71% of Occupiers' Southern Supply Lines
Disruption of Russian Military Logistics in Southern Ukraine
According to Главком: Ukraine's systematic campaign to dismantle Russian supply chains in the south continues, with strikes targeting the R-280 highway and the Chongar Bridge. This has drastically cut cargo movement and triggered a fuel shortage in Crimea. The R-280 artery links Rostov-on-Don to Mariupol, Melitopol, and Crimea. These operations are part of a medium-range strike strategy, hitting targets 20 to 200 kilometers from the front line.
Since early February, long-range attacks have quadrupled in frequency, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Over the past two weeks, military cargo traffic along the R-280 has dropped by 71%, reported Ukrainian Armed Forces spokesperson Robert Brovdi. The Chongar Bridge, connecting occupied Kherson region to Crimea, has been completely shut down following a series of drone strikes.
Conditions in Occupied Territories
The 412th Nemezis Brigade continues to destroy dozens of fuel tankers using cutting-edge technology. Ukrainian forces are heavily deploying American-made Hornet drones equipped with integrated artificial intelligence systems, as well as a new domestically produced lightweight two-meter fixed-wing drone called Morrigan, which launches from a compact rail or slingshot. Additionally, remote road mining is being used to hinder enemy movement.
In occupied areas, the situation is also deteriorating. Yevgen Balitsky, head of the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, noted that a 'comprehensive mining system' is being actively employed to defend positions. Volodymyr Saldo signed a decree banning civilian truck traffic on the highway, a move he compared to the 'siege of Leningrad.'
“Occupiers should not feel comfortable even far from the front line.” - Mykhailo Fedorov
Representatives of Ukraine's 1st Separate Assault Regiment stated they are 'monitoring every move of the occupiers at the facility and are ready to adjust at any moment.' This reflects the high level of organization and readiness among Ukrainian troops to carry out their missions against the aggressor.
The destruction of Russian supply routes in southern Ukraine marks a critical phase in the military campaign aimed at weakening the enemy's capabilities. The reduction in cargo flow could create severe resource shortages in occupied territories, impacting the overall condition of Russian forces. This situation also highlights the growing role of advanced technology and drones in modern warfare, reshaping traditional combat approaches.
As the situation in Crimea escalates, the effectiveness of Ukrainian drone operations cannot be overlooked. Recent reports indicate that in just one week, SBU drones successfully eliminated a significant number of Russian military assets, further crippling the occupiers' capabilities. This ongoing strategy highlights the critical role of advanced technology in modern warfare and its impact on supply chain disruptions.
