Lavrov on the Meeting Between Putin and Trump: What Russia Expects from the West
Sergey Lavrov demands clear assurances from the West regarding the outcomes of the upcoming meeting between the presidents of Russia and the USA. The Russian Foreign Minister shared his expectations during the Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
'We also need guarantees that the meeting of the presidents will yield concrete results. We are ready for such results,' Lavrov emphasized.
The diplomat also expressed hope that Donald Trump is interested in a peaceful resolution of conflicts rather than an increase in arms supplies to Ukraine. Lavrov did not specify what exactly the leaders discussed during their previous meeting in Anchorage.
Furthermore, the Russian representative is awaiting confirmation of the proposals discussed at the summit in Alaska from the United States. He also noted the silence of the West following Russia's test of the nuclear-capable cruise missile 'Burevestnik.'
