Lindsey Vonn claimed victory in St. Moritz, Switzerland

According to glavcom.ua: Lindsey Vonn, a legend of alpine skiing, managed to win the first stage of the World Cup for the 2025/26 season in Switzerland, in the city of St. Moritz. At 41 years old, she became the oldest winner in the history of the FIS World Cup, winning on her 409th start and outpacing all competitors.

This was an impressive performance by the champion, who returned to the sport in the 2024/25 season after retiring in 2019. Lindsey Vonn showcased phenomenal form, defeating Magdalena Egger by a remarkable margin of 0.98 seconds. This marks her 83rd victory in the overall standings and her 44th win in downhill skiing.

Lindsey Vonn's emotions and future plans

“Even my father cried, and I felt that all the hard work paid off. Everyone who doubted my return made me stronger,” said Lindsey Vonn.

The athlete noted the perfect conditions for her victory, including ideal snow, no wind, and a confident descent. This success made her reconsider her plans to retire after the 2026 Olympics.

Corinne Suter's injury

However, not everything went smoothly in St. Moritz. During training, Corinne Suter was injured, and she will need about four weeks to recover before returning to competition.

Lindsey Vonn showed an impressive result, once again reaching the top of the sports world, but the injury of another competitor reminds that in sports, safety is just as important as victory.
