New Scholarship Initiative for University Applicants

According to Главком: The Presidential Fund for Education, Science, and Sports Support in Ukraine has unveiled a scholarship program targeting applicants who achieve high scores on the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT-2026). To qualify for a monthly stipend of 10,000 UAH throughout their first academic year, candidates must earn at least 185 points in every NMT subject and enroll in full-time studies at a Ukrainian higher education institution or a specialized pre-university college.

Up to 400 scholarships will be awarded under this initiative. Payments will be made on a monthly basis for one calendar year, with no separate application required to receive them. These funds are granted on top of standard academic scholarships and are not subject to taxation. The main NMT-2026 session began on May 20 and runs through June 25, with over 355,000 participants registered-an increase of 43,000 compared to last year. Official results will be released to all test-takers by July 3, while an additional session is scheduled from July 17 to July 24.

Increase in Academic Scholarships

The Fund has also announced a raise in academic and named scholarships effective September 1, 2026. The minimum academic scholarship will double from 2,000 to 4,000 UAH, and the Presidential Scholarship for bachelor's and master's students will increase from 10,000 to 20,000 UAH.

“The NMT may not be easy. But even if you have to put in the effort, the state will support and encourage you. We will be happy to see everyone in a Ukrainian university.” - Presidential Fund of Ukraine

These measures are designed to motivate young people to pursue their education within Ukraine.

The launch of the scholarship program and the boost to academic payments reflect the government's commitment to supporting youth and making higher education more accessible in Ukraine. This could not only enhance educational standards but also encourage young people to return to the country after completing their studies, which is crucial for the development of Ukrainian society and its economy amid current challenges.

In addition to the new scholarship initiative, the Fund has announced significant increases in academic stipends starting September 1, 2026. This boost aims to further support students as they pursue higher education in Ukraine.
