In Poland, there is no clearly defined amount for transfers to a bank card that will not trigger the attention of tax authorities. At the same time, banks are obliged to report large transactions to the financial regulator. This is stated by “InPoland”.

Transfer limits in Poland: when the tax authority is notified

According to Polish law regarding financial monitoring, there is a threshold of 15,000 euros (approximately 65–70 thousand zlotys). If a transaction exceeds this amount, the bank forwards the information to the General Inspector of Financial Information (GIFI).

Important:

  • the transfer is not blocked and the funds are credited;
  • data about the transaction is simply recorded in the financial control system;
  • an investigation is only possible in case of suspicions.

If the regulator identifies risks, the information may be forwarded to the tax authorities for further analysis.

Card transfers in Poland: what raises suspicion

The main factor is not the amount, but the source of funds and the frequency of transactions.

Additional checks most often occur in cases of:

  • large or frequent inflows with unclear sources;
  • transfers that do not match declared income;
  • transactions from third parties without explanation (friends, clients, partners).

Special regulations apply to:

  • gifts – subject to inheritance and gift tax;
  • loans – must be formalized by a contract and transferred officially.

Taxes in Poland: what are the risks for the recipient

If a person cannot corroborate the source of funds, the tax office may classify them as income from unknown sources.

In such a case, a higher tax rate applies – up to 75%.

To avoid problems, it is advisable to keep documents that confirm the source of funds:

  • employment contracts;
  • tax returns;
  • bank statements;
  • purchase agreements.

Therefore, there is no “safe” limit for transfers in Poland. Even small amounts can attract attention if they appear suspicious, while large transactions do not raise questions when there are verified sources of income.

As reported by “Polish Radio”, Ukrainian citizens account for 22.5% of total foreign spending in Poland.
