Fuel Prices in Ukraine Updated: Here’s What Gasoline and Diesel Now Cost
Ukrainian Fuel Prices as of May 2026
According to Главком: As of May 17, 2026, gas station networks across Ukraine have adjusted their fuel prices. The average cost of A-95 gasoline now stands at 74.34 hryvnias per liter, while diesel fuel has climbed to an average of 87.75 hryvnias per liter. Since March 20, 2026, the country has been running a 'National Cashback' program that offers rebates on fuel: 15% back on diesel, 10% on gasoline, and 5% on autogas. This initiative has been extended through May 31, 2026.
Diesel prices in Ukraine have surged by 33.9%. One network lowered its diesel price by less than 1 hryvnia per liter, while three chains cut autogas prices by 1 hryvnia per liter. The most expensive fuel stations remain OKKO, WOG, and Socar, whereas Ukrnafta and BRSM-Nafta offer the lowest rates.
Fuel Price Breakdown Across Major Networks
Current fuel prices at various stations are as follows:
- UPG: A-95 - 74.90 UAH/L, Diesel - 86.49 UAH/L
- OKKO: A-95 - 77.90 UAH/L
- WOG: A-95 - 77.90 UAH/L
- KLO: A-95 - 71.90 UAH/L
- SOCAR: A-95 - 77.90 UAH/L
- Ukrnafta: A-95 - 68.99 UAH/L
- BRSM-Nafta: A-95 - 69.99 UAH/L
The primary driver behind rising fuel costs is the shutdown of Ukraine’s largest oil refinery. According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Antimonopoly Committee,
'the main objective factor influencing the price increase is that, since last year, almost all light petroleum products-over 85% in percentage terms-depend on imports of oil products.'
In March 2026, fuel supply volumes remained on par with 2025 levels. During that month, diesel prices (Platts benchmark) jumped by 86%, and import costs rose by 58%. At gas stations, gasoline prices increased by 16%, while diesel went up by 39%. The price hikes are attributed not only to the refinery shutdown but also to rising demand, shrinking supply and reserves, and higher logistics expenses. The Antimonopoly Committee sees no monopolistic behavior in the market, but the situation remains tense.
To wrap up, the maximum savings under the cashback program amount to up to 11 UAH per liter on diesel, up to 7 UAH on gasoline, and up to 2 UAH on autogas. Starting May 1, 2026, the maximum monthly rebate is capped at 500 UAH.
Rising fuel prices in Ukraine have a significant impact on the national economy, as fuel is a critical component for transportation and logistics. The 'National Cashback' program may partially offset consumer costs and support fuel demand, but prolonged price increases could affect inflation levels and the broader economic outlook. The fuel market situation will remain under close watch, given the heavy reliance on imports and the state of domestic production.
