Polish historian explained why there can be no dialogue with Russia about the Katyn crime

Poland historian explains choice of topic
Історик з Польщі розкрив причини неможливості переговорів з Росією щодо злочину в Катыні.

According to glavcom.ua: Polish historian Lukasz Adamski explained why Poland is actively discussing the Volhynian tragedy with Ukraine, but avoids the issue of the Katyn massacre with Russia. The reason lies in the close ties between the Polish and Ukrainian peoples and the impossibility of having a productive dialogue with Russia due to propaganda and the concealment of historical facts. Lukasz Adamski himself spoke about this in an interview with 'Hlavkom'.

Poles see Ukrainians as similar to themselves, so they want to help. Even Polish nationalists feel sympathy for the struggle of Ukrainians against Russia. This solidarity indicates that cooperation between the two countries can be built on a common historical consciousness and support. The historian urged not to demonize Polish nationalist organizations and to avoid viewing them as instruments of Russian influence, as this hinders cooperation between the peoples.

The dialogue with Russia is complicated by the Soviet legacy of crimes and modern propaganda. As long as Russia does not become a democratic country and does not open its archives, dialogue with it will be difficult. It is also important to talk about the common victories of Poles and Ukrainians, such as during the Warsaw battle.

It is necessary to remember the common victories of Ukrainian and Polish troops over the Red Army near Zamosc in August 1920, which is an important lesson in history for both nations. This stage also demonstrates cooperation in the struggle for independence and security.

Ukraine and Poland share their historical heritage and strive to build a dialogue based on mutual respect and support for each other.
